Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for providing overall leadership to maximize customer support and relations at assigned office location.  The Sales Support Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of customer service, shipping, order management, invoicing, and agronomic support are performed by inside sales staff at the highest level of timeliness and accuracy.



  • Ensure inside sales activities, initiatives, and goals at assigned location are aligned with those of the company
  • Evaluate and if necessary improve operational systems and / or processes that support the organization’s growth – specifically, information flow and management and business process enhancements
  • Assist Office Sales Manager and Director of Sales in long-term planning for sales, customer service, support and distribution of seed

Personnel Management

  • Maintain sufficient staffing levels to meet all office needs, obligations to customers, and deadlines under the direction of the Office Sales Manager
  • Manage work schedules including weekday shift, weekend duties, and vacation time of all inside sales staff 
  • Encourage teamwork and a positive working environment
  • Monitor workloads and delegate responsibilities as necessary
  • Clearly communicate responsibilities and expectations to inside sales staff
  • Ensure all required resources for efficient and excellent performance are allocated to staff
  • Provide staff with performance feedback on a regular basis including, but not limited to annual performance reviews
  • Oversees the implementation of inside sales customer service functions through the inside sales staff
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the inside sales staff through improvements to each area of responsibility as well as coordination and communication between them all.
  • Communicate and liaison with all sales staff on the pertinent operations of the inside sales function
  • Coordinate and communicate competitive and customer information derived from Inside Sales to management
  • Provide verbal and written communications to other sales staff on administrative and agronomic issues relative to inside sales

Development of Personnel

  • Through coaching and managing, ensure that each inside sales staff member continues to grow and prosper in their career with Beck’s Hybrids
  • Promote and influence cross training among staff to increase value to customers, each other, the company and themselves

Job Requirements

1. Education and Training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy, Ag Economics, Marketing, Sales or other related field
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy.
  • Chauffer license or equivalent may be required.

3. Physical demands:

  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required.

4. Experience:

  • Prior experience working as an inside sales consultant
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to execute good judgment
