2017 Ohio Corn Residue Management Study
Ohio
The purpose of this study is to evaluate various residue management tools, to determine which method breaks down residue faster, allows earlier planting, and ultimately, offers the highest yield.
OBSERVATION
Following 2016 harvest, it was evident how much more stalk breakdown occurred with the Capello® Quasar Corn Head and the Yetter Stalk Devastator™. When planting this spring, no differences were evident in the soil temperatures between treatments. Additionally, canopy coverage around the V4 growth stage and plant height at the V10 growth stage showed negligible differences between treatments.
